We followed tips on the aquarium's website and bought tickets off of Ticketmaster ahead of time so we could avoid long, hot lines, and it was one of the best decisions we could have made that trip. Lots of loud kids in a small space trying to get in. Yuck.
I'll be honest. The aquarium was a madhouse! Lots of kids, lots of chaos. We did see some pretty cool fish, dolphins, and penguins. Not a lot of pictures with all of the craziness.
We took a break after that and headed outside for some lunch. We ate on the museum campus, outside, and got to watch the birds try and vie for the fries and bread we were tossing out onto the grass. I think this was one of the best parts of Calvin's day.
After lunch, we headed to the Field Museum. I've been to the aquarium before, but I've never been to the Field Museum. Their big claim to fame is SUE, the largest, most complete, and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex ever discovered.
Meet SUE:
We wandered through the museum for a long time, stopping at most of the dinosaur related exhibits. He was not as much of a fan of the bones as the replicas, and the buttons and screens everywhere. They have an Evolving Planet exhibit which wasd very cool. At the end is a big room with lots of dinosaur bone exhibits.
We really had a great time in Chicago. I have more phone pics to share once I get them all downloaded, so you'll see those in the next few days too!
