Dr. Today

Calvin's 2-month appointment was today. He is 14 pounds 13 ounces (naked weight) and 24 inches long. It was something like the 81st, 87th, and 89th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference. The doctor said he is very proportionate. She also sounded surprised that he's mastered some of his skills already - laughing, doing "stomach crunches" (I call them these because he is always trying to sit up!), reaching and holding toys.

The shots were traumatic. He had an oral one, which he spit out. They couldn't do any more, because the nurse said that you can't really measure how much gets into him. It didn't surprise me, he spits out his Vitamin D every day too. He had two shots then into his legs. The first one made him cry, and the second one REALLY made him cry. The nurse went fast, it just surprised and hurt him. We'll be giving him tylenol if he acts fussy or feverish at all. I nursed him in the exam room after the shots were done, and that calmed him down pretty fast. He's sleeping in his car seat right now - he fell asleep on the way home.

The next doctor appointment is at 4 months... and I forgot to ask if he has to have more shots then:-(

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
